Shortfall Protection is another name for GAP (Garanteed Asset Protection) Gap is exactly what it says. If you have shortfall protection and your vehicle is written off by your insurance company, it will pay any difference you have between you and your insurer as well as paying an amount of money towards your replacment vehicle.
